Blankets for Nottingham

 

Blankets for Nottingham is part of Blankets for the World which was dreamed up by Craft Forward a wonderful organisation based in London. The hope is that we put together as many blankets as possible to reach those in need. The need for blankets is greater than you may think.

In the past I have donated blankets to local hospices, MacMillan Nurses, Knit for Peace, animal shelters, Project Linus, local Homeless Shelters, and Operation Orphan. These unique hand crafted blankets, put together with love an kindness from volunteers, send a message of hope and comfort to all who receive them.

Can you help ? We need volunteers

We need volunteers who are willing to knit or crochet squares, that can be transformed into unique blankets. Ideally the squares need to be 20 cm x 20 cm but any size is gratefully received . Also any number of squares is accepted from 1 to 100 ! Go wild if you want to :) The more the merrier.

I cannot knit or crochet but want to help?

We are always in need of donations of yarn. Any amount of yarn is always welcome, it does not matter what type or what colour.

Thank you to the crocheter of anonymous donation of the beautiful crocheted blanket, that blankets for Nottingham received this week. 

Thanks to our team of volunteers Blankets for Nottingham have been able to deliver 10 blankets so far this year and we have several more to deliver and many currently being created. Blankets are a form of therapy for many people, as they are comforting and can help with trauma.

Operation Orphan have currently taken 430 blankets over to Nepal and are in the process of trying to get this aid to those who need it.

Blankets are fun to create as you can be as colourful and as textured as you like. As you can see from these blankets a variety of knitted and crocheted squares have been used to create a unique piece. Check out the butterfly! Stefka added the butterfly for a lovely feature and I think you  will agree it looks so cute :)
