My own healing journey began, the day my father sadly passed away in February 2021. I was very close to my dad and his absence left a huge hole in my life. As a result I began to use knitting initially as a way of coping with my grief and then it started to become a way that I could help others by knitting for charity.
So I began making blankets for my local hospice and also a charity called Operation Orphan who are based in Nottingham. This charity helps children both in the UK and abroad, bringing hope and comfort in the form of a hand knitted blanket.
Did you know - studies have shown that knitting is beneficial for people living with mental health issues. Knitting is described as a way of bringing a sense of calm and giving life structure.
